YEAR IN REVIEW: MCQUEENS FLOWER SCHOOL

2018 was a thrilling year for McQueens Flower School. Kicking off with our 20th anniversary, it set the tone for an exciting 12 months ahead. We delighted in welcoming students from all over the world on to our extensive programme of courses, our tutors went on tour extolling their love of floral designs with workshops in California, Mexico and South Korea and, of course, some truly wonderful projects were created as a result. Before we looked forward to all the wonderful opportunities 2019 has to offer, we take a look at some dynamic McQueen’s Flower School moments from the past year.

McQueens Flower School Turns 20

As regular readers of the blog will know, we were rather excited here at McQueens HQ to celebrated 20 years as a leading centre for those looking to pursue their floral passion. The school has experienced a remarkable journey and earned itself a global reputation. McQueens CEO and founder Kally Ellis said, “McQueens Flower School was founded due to incredible demand from people eager to know more about working with flowers the McQueens way. The school has steadily grown over the years and I am incredibly proud of our reputation, which has spread throughout the world, and the fantastic team who continue to build the school, welcoming students from all over the globe.”

Vocational Course Installations

The Four-Week Vocational Course forms a special part of the McQueens Flower School curriculum as it really is designed for floristry enthusiasts to take their interest to the next level. Made up of four themes including an introduction to flower design, event and corporate design, wedding flowers and culminating in a group project. It’s the latter that produces some truly innovative projects on a grand scale, embracing the McQueens philosophy – and creating some fantastic Instagram moments

Our students

From the One-Day Masterclass to the Four-Week Vocational Course, the school has been graced by the most enthusiastic and talented of students. We’re often reluctant to say goodbye to our new floral friends and when we can, take the opportunity to sit down with them to find out a little more. We love rereading this archive piece about what motivates some of our students to pursue their dreams and how they came to fulfil them at the school.

Collaborations

Our school team is dedicated to providing a rich and diverse experience for those who choose to study with us. An exciting part of the Vocational Course module is giving our students a taster of implementing a design in situ – facing the day-to-day challenges of being a florist. Last year we teamed up with a variety of beautiful, local establishments with some stand out results. Particular highlights included the Sicilian Orange Grove created for the Sicilian Supper Club and Hackney Coffee Company, and the glorious other-worldly meadow installed in the courtroom of the Town Hall Hotel.

The School Goes International

Our talented tutors packed their floristry tools and ventured around the world, sharing their expert knowledge with classes in Mexico City, Seoul and California. They were all greeted with such warmth, enthusiasm and passion that we honestly say this was a real highlight for the whole team.

Looking forward to 2019

Inspired by a wonderful year, McQueens Flower School is gearing up to prepare to welcome new students to the first class of the year. Another jam-packed curriculum awaits, and with classes often booked months in advance, now is a good time to check out which dates are available for you to sign up for the McQueens Flower School curriculum for 2019.

2018 was an unforgettable year for the school – meeting all our talented students is always a highligh. We’ve achieved some incredible results and as a team reached a global audience. We’re extremely excited for the new year ahead – welcoming our new students and sharing the McQueens passion for innovation and creativity.
